Tips for packing light
(While Still Being Fashionable)
That girl that brings 3 bags for 3 nights, thats me... OR was me....

One of my new years goals for 2014 was Pack light, inspired by my Europe trip I took last november and I "had" to pack light, for the purpose of bouncing around Europe in a short amount of time! I packed light for the first time ever, and it felt good! 2014 goal; keep my packing light.

Blackout & Neutralize
I always say when in doubt wear all black. Takes me back to my Paul Mitchell Hair academy days where for a year and a half our dress code was all black, they made it that way for a reason, it looks clean cut and professional. I was just in LA this last week on business, so at night I switched my black cardigan I wore during the day for my black cropped leather jacket for a company dinner (add a touch of red lipstick) and instantly a different vibe and feel! Black is always a fashion GO, but other neutral colors are top choice as well. ***SIDE note...stay away from wrinkle clothing, make sure what you’re packing is wrinkle resistant. This is also another plus for darker clothes, they can be lifesavers. Dark clothes hide the oopsies, spilled drinks, and wrinkles.

Mix &Match
When your combinations of clothes you bring can be worn with different items brought, it’s always a win/win. Mixing and matching the clothes you bring is key to having more options without having to bring everything! Like above, I normally bring neutral clothes and spruce it up with fun accessories!

Say No to your Shoe Obsession
I used to be that girl that would check an extra bag. What was in that bag? It was filled up with shoes! Now that airlines charge for extra bags, it made me ask myself, is it really worth the EXTRA bag? Is is worth the EXTRA money for shoes, I probably won’t end up using. Trust me its not worth it. Decide beforehand, pack two pairs! If you need dress shoes, add a pair of flats, or running shoes and stop there!

Think Mini
Shampoo, conditioner, face wash, toothpaste, night cream, deodorant, lotions, don’t waste the weight or space on these items. Downsize, or minimize them. :) Two options, pic up some sample sized containers, or I typically swing by target and hit the dollar bins (they have a great selection). Also if you carry medication, count out what you’ll need and put them in a smaller container. You can also just use a small plastic zip lock bag!

Know Yourself
For example don’t bring dresses, if you think you need them BUT you 'know' you wont really wear them (because you always choose your jeans). Bring what you know you’ll wear. A suitcase full of clothes, you don’t wear is never good. Sometimes I’ll try them on before putting them in my suitcase, making sure I feel comfortable, and see if that is what I’m looking for.

Layers are your best friend
On the way to the airport layer it up! Wear your coat or bulky sweater, don’t you pack it! Besides half the time my coat makes for a nice blanket over my lap on the cold flights, or on long flights a comfortable pillow. A few examples on things to layer are: tank tops, sweaters, coats, scarfs, and sunglasses.

************************************************************************************

This last week I was in LA for a work trip and my shoot a Lou sister drove on down late one night to come see me. After talking our heads off and missing all of Mr. Juan Pablo drama on abc, we decided a target run would be fun, walking by the clothes Elise spotted the red tag adult onesies (still puzzled why we even have adult onesies) ... I looked at her and said NO, she then began to tell me that I’m no fun!... challenge excepted... Gave her one look grabbed the onseir and headed towards the dressing room.
Elise is named the party girl for a reason, no matter where she is, it’s a party... so In LA's targets red dressing room we had a party of our own....

Cause when your college roomie comes to visit you on a work trip, you act like immature human beings... Bachelor. Boy talk. selfies. kissy faces till your face hurts. laughing. laughing a lot. Diet coke. Fries. Singing to the guy next to us at a red light. Target. Onesies. Jumping like bunnies. You know, Normal things....

I love this bestie of mine, college, life wouldnt be as F U N!

27 going on 18 ..... Keeping it classy and Young! Ha-ha!

16 Of My Favorite Beauty Items UNDER $10

1. Schick Quattro Razors... ARE the best, well in my option anyway! I used to be a Venus girl until A roommate of mine introduced me to them years ago (thanks Jessica) and have not bought anything else since. At first I bought the men’s Schick razors then noticed the pink high performance razors for girls, score! Legs feel smoother a lot longer! Makes for a Happy girl! (Target) 7.94

2. EOS Lip Balm it’s a purse must, easy to find, they come in a ball shape, fun! Very moisturizing and for some reason I have the urge to buy every color. My favorites are the mint and the lemon so far. If you haven’t tried the EOS craze, try it. They won’t let you down. 2.99 Each

3.Caress Evenly Gorgeous Body Wash. Evens skin tone, smells A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, (Burnt brown sugar and karite butter) exfoliates and smooth’s. If you haven’t tried this, please do! I get mine at Target for a whopping 2.99

4. Outlast Lip stain by Cover Girl in Nude Kiss & Sassy Mauve are my Favorite stains so far (there are more I’d like to try). I just love the look of them, sometimes I’ll just stain my lips with a color with no adding of gloss, looks amazing and looks like I was blessed with naturally colored lips. Try without gloss and then of course gloss over looks good too. All day lip color, what more do you want? 7.99 Each

5. Neutrogena Pink grapefruit Oil Free Wash, I’ve tried the more pricey face washes, but they tend to let me down, I mean if I’m paying loads of money and not getting perfect skin, what’s the point! Honestly I have a few favorite face washes that can be found at Target, Walmart or most drugstores. Lately I’ve been using this, and my skin has been loving it! It’s just enough scrub and doesn’t over dry my skin, not to mention I love the smell. 6.39

6.Alba Pore Purifying Pineapple Enzyme Facial Cleanser (that’s a mouth full to say, ha!) Another one of my favorite facial cleansers! Years ago on a work trip to Vegas, my girlfriend Dani had lend me some of this face wash cause I had forgot mine, I was instantly hooked, loved the feel and it really cleared up my skin up. Obsessed with the smell and my skin really was more radiant.
***Side note... sometimes ill switch up my cleansers, meaning having two at a time and going back and forth every few nights, just like I have different shampoo’s in my shower. Switching it up can be good and healthy for the skin. Just make sure they both work for your skin! (The Neutrogena cleanser above this one has those fun micro beads, and this Alba one doesn’t, I like having two with different textures!) 9.99 For an 8fl oz. bottle

7.Burt’s Bees products ARE amazing, I think most of you are nodding your head, yes...am I right? Most women & Men have the classic peppermint stick handy, but recently I picked up this pale pink sheer Bee's gloss and I absolutely love it! 3.29 & 6.99

8. Jergen’s Natural Glow Face Moisturizer (with sunscreen) Ok honestly I love this product, little bit of color, check! Moisturizer, check! Sunscreen, check! I apply on my face and neck, after washing! Just remember try and skip your eyebrows :) 8.79

9. Lash Blast Cover Girl Volume Mascara. When I can’t afford my Benefit “They’re real” Mascara, I grab this one, Its Cover Girls Biggest brush, and works great. 6.99
10.Sonia Kashuk Deluxe Brow/metal comb & groomer. I seemed to always break my plastic comb side of my brush, and then I saw this number. I love the metal, just be sure to be a little more careful when using, you don’t want to poke your eye! Ouch! (so far no poking for me J ) But I love how the metal glides through the lashes and de junks the clumps. Also it comes with a little plastic protector, keeps it clean, and we all love clean! ***Side note, I like to comb through my lashes just seconds after I put mascara on, if it hardens too much, there’s a better chance of pulling on your lashes to much, making them easy to fall out. 8.39

11.Sally Hansen Diamond Shine + Strength nail coat. It’s a base coat. It’s a top coat. It has a diamond shine, and works on building your nail strength. YES, all in one, Im obsessed with it. 3.99

12.Cover Girl Clean pressed powder classic tan #160 I use this as a bronzer powder, easily at the top of my list of favorites EVER! I have used this gem for years and years, I apply it with a big powder brush and sweep over bronzing areas… In the summer I can apply more, winter I apply less. Its cheap, its GOOD, its gets the job done, and it doesn’t have shimmer( love that is doesn’t.) Thank you stephanie for showing me this 7years ago, and thank you stephanie’s sister Jamie for teaching her this years before that! Its still a constant buy for me! I usually pick mine up at target for around 7.00

13.Maybelline Color Whisper Loves these 5.99 suckers! Hint of sheer color and gloss, I love the Mocha Muse for a more natural nude look, The Rose of attraction for fun brighter rosy color and the Lust for Blush for a pale mauve pink look. I use these by themselves but also over my lipsticks too with matching colors. These babies contain no wax or oils, they really just glide on perfect and they can be quite addicting.

14.Remington Any-wear Hair bands. My top choice for hair bands, A lot of other brands Ive tried have given me headaches, these are the perfect balance of staying on and tightness. Good for working out and also good for pulling your hair back at night when washing your face. 2 packs for $5 I get mine at Target!

15.Cover Girls loose powder translucent medium powder. Comes in three shades, I always grab the medium, seems to be good for both summer and winter months. I love this loose powder, I have used this for years, I will sometimes Try other brands MAC ect, but always end up liking this better. 6.99

16.Makeup Cleansing cloths If I dont have them, I wish I did! These are perfect for a quick swipe off of makeup at night before I wash with cleanser, I always feel like my face is squeaky clean when I use these first! These Elf cloths are only 3.00

Simple ways to change up your Look

1. WEAR RED LIPSTICK...don’t let it scare you,( for many years I said 'no way Jose') But Trust me there are 100 hundreds, yes that many, different shades of red, SO Pick one that speaks to you. You will know it when you see it. Red lipstick is the ultimate feminine classy look; come on it’s been around forever!
***Side note.... wear it for a few days before you say no, it can feel weird at first (been there) but it can take some getting used to. There are too many ladies out there that think they don’t look good in red, nonsense, the lush, the big, the small lips all look good with color, be bold be confident change it up buy that red color.

2. S H A P E your eyebrows... am I going to really admit to this... I have only really shaped my eyebrows only a couple of years now.... Can I say H E L L O it makes a big difference, I mean I didn’t have bushy eyebrows, a unibrow or too thin of a shape so I thought eh, nah not much to shape right? It wasn’t until I was at the Benefit counter picking up a few things, that they were doing a free eyebrow wax/shape with purchase (guess that was a rockin B I G deal) I remember thinking well so what, wish it was a free gloss or a fresh tube of mascara ... I’m still not going to let them touch my eyebrows! I had thoughts of ..What if they make me look horrible or what happens if they take too much off or fill them in a grossly amount, so I simply said no thanks.... BUT thank heavens for the lady to looked shocked when I said no and kindly made me feel comfortable about the idea and talked me into it! L O N G story short, GO get them shaped, don’t be afraid to tell them what you want, Eyebrows have a H U G E impact in the way you look, they shape/frame your face and eyes! SO go book your appointment

( Vero, one of my senior models... )

3. A C C E S S O R I S E... ok so some of us don’t wear jewelry, well perfect, start! Even a cute pair of earrings can M A K E an outfit! Accessories can spice up most outfits without having to buy a whole new wardrobe.
( statement Necklace I brought back from Mexico, one of my favs)

4. YOUTUBE H A I R...so most of us don’t have a million ideas off the top of our head for hairstyles, right? BUT there are soooo many hair tutorials now online (It’s totally the 'in' thing right now). Easy and doesn’t cost you a trip to the salon cause you feel like a change on impulse. Even flipping your hair to the other side or parting it different, low bun high bun, the list goes on... YouTube easy hair tutorials.

5. FLATTER YOUR FEET. Shoes matter too ya know.... They can be a statement and an outfit changer in itself.

( flats/ bright colored heels, ya know its really whatever speaks to you shoes have personality... Oh and who doesn't love a pedicure, flatter and take care of your feet, it can really make you feel different)

6. E X F O L I A T E ....A mid-week face treatment is always a good way to freshen up the way you feel and look. There are so many products out there, find one that works for you. Bye bye dry, flaky, dead skin cells, Hello fresh, dewy, glowing new skin.

( I learned a lot about beauty products at the Cosmo prof show I attend this last year, again find what works for you... you will have many options to choose from, also letting your naked face out every once in awhile/ or using minimal makeup is good too, changing my look with no mascara, more of a natural look.)

7. F R A G R A N C E... sweet, Fun, Sexy, powerful all words describing perfume! Fragrance can give off such vibes, although the way you smell doesn’t give a visible change, it changes your vibe and the way you feel, and really in a lot of ways how people perceive you.

( I  L O V E  my Trish McEvoy #9... Makes me happy... running out, as you can tell )

8. G E T ORGANIZED...also not a visible change, BUT so what, cleaning out my closet or getting rid of things I haven’t touched in so long, feels good, feels like a BIG change to me, try it!

( No pictures here... Working on this change now.... and its a little messy at the moment)
