How to Date Your Husband

After walking around the mall and seeing all the adorable clothes for Valentines's Day coming up,  it's clear that love is in the air…. or at least it should be.  For married couples it can be hard to find that spark that was once so apparent.  I have only been married about 4 years but I can already tell that keeping those butterflies in my stomach when I see my husband takes a little effort.  Here are some tips that can help keep your relationship stay alive and young.

#1
First thing first, have date night!  Make it a priority and make it work.  Kids can be a little tricky when planning and affording dates but there are plenty of "cheaper" outings that you can plan so paying that babysitter is a little easier.  Here are a few ideas…

   - Pack a homemade dinner, sit on the tailgate, and watch the sunset
   - look for coupons! Scan through those newspapers and online.  I can almost always find a buy one
get one coupon for Cold Stone in the newspaper.
   - Keep is simple and go for a long walk, hike or maybe even a motorcycle ride

For those of you who aren't too worried about pinching pennies and just want a night out of the house try something new like skydiving or maybe Square Dancing!  I know right? Did she just mention Square Dancing?  My husbands Christmas work party had a Square Dancing Caller come to the party and we both had so much fun, we were smiling the whole time.  Not to mention breaking a sweat, what a good way to burn some extra calories.

Don't talk about your kids!  It's so easy to go out to eat, sit down, and talk about your kids the entire time.  This one might seem almost impossible but at least keep the kid talk to a minimum. Try complimenting him and asking detailed questions about his day.  We always love to hear our husband compliment us but sometimes we forget to return the favor.  Remember the unexpected compliments are the best, which leads to my next tip...

#3
Send flirty texts or write nice notes.  It's actually a lot of fun writing unexpected notes and leaving it by his favorite treat.  This really does let him know that you're thinking of him and that you care.  One of my favorite times to do this is after an argument or disagreement. Even though apologies have been said a thoughtful note can really help brush away any leftover harsh feelings.

Document the night.  Whatever you end up doing with your hubby make sure you take pictures so you remember the night as the years go on.  Here are pictures of some of my favorite dates with my husband.

The picture above is of my husband Spear Fishing.  haha! I love it.
