Tips for packing light

Tips for packing light
(While Still Being Fashionable)

That girl that brings 3 bags for 3 nights, thats me... OR was me....

One of my new years goals for 2014 was Pack light, inspired by my Europe trip I took last november and I "had" to pack light, for the purpose of bouncing around Europe in a short amount of time! I packed light for the first time ever, and it felt good! 2014 goal; keep my packing light.

Blackout & Neutralize
I always say when in doubt wear all black. Takes me back to my Paul Mitchell Hair academy days where for a year and a half our dress code was all black, they made it that way for a reason, it looks clean cut and professional. I was just in LA this last week on business, so at night I switched my black cardigan I wore during the day for my black cropped leather jacket for a company dinner (add a touch of red lipstick) and instantly a different vibe and feel! Black is always a fashion GO, but other neutral colors are top choice as well. ***SIDE note...stay away from wrinkle clothing, make sure what you’re packing is wrinkle resistant. This is also another plus for darker clothes, they can be lifesavers. Dark clothes hide the oopsies, spilled drinks, and wrinkles.

Mix &Match
When your combinations of clothes you bring can be worn with different items brought, it’s always a win/win. Mixing and matching the clothes you bring is key to having more options without having to bring everything! Like above, I normally bring neutral clothes and spruce it up with fun accessories!

Say No to your Shoe Obsession
I used to be that girl that would check an extra bag. What was in that bag? It was filled up with shoes! Now that airlines charge for extra bags, it made me ask myself, is it really worth the EXTRA bag? Is is worth the EXTRA money for shoes, I probably won’t end up using. Trust me its not worth it. Decide beforehand, pack two pairs! If you need dress shoes, add a pair of flats, or running shoes and stop there!

Think Mini
Shampoo, conditioner, face wash, toothpaste, night cream, deodorant, lotions, don’t waste the weight or space on these items. Downsize, or minimize them. :) Two options, pic up some sample sized containers, or I typically swing by target and hit the dollar bins (they have a great selection). Also if you carry medication, count out what you’ll need and put them in a smaller container. You can also just use a small plastic zip lock bag!

Know Yourself
For example don’t bring dresses, if you think you need them BUT you 'know' you wont really wear them (because you always choose your jeans). Bring what you know you’ll wear. A suitcase full of clothes, you don’t wear is never good. Sometimes I’ll try them on before putting them in my suitcase, making sure I feel comfortable, and see if that is what I’m looking for.

Layers are your best friend
On the way to the airport layer it up! Wear your coat or bulky sweater, don’t you pack it! Besides half the time my coat makes for a nice blanket over my lap on the cold flights, or on long flights a comfortable pillow. A few examples on things to layer are: tank tops, sweaters, coats, scarfs, and sunglasses.

************************************************************************************

This last week I was in LA for a work trip and my shoot a Lou sister drove on down late one night to come see me. After talking our heads off and missing all of Mr. Juan Pablo drama on abc, we decided a target run would be fun, walking by the clothes Elise spotted the red tag adult onesies (still puzzled why we even have adult onesies) ... I looked at her and said NO, she then began to tell me that I’m no fun!... challenge excepted... Gave her one look grabbed the onseir and headed towards the dressing room.
Elise is named the party girl for a reason, no matter where she is, it’s a party... so In LA's targets red dressing room we had a party of our own....

Cause when your college roomie comes to visit you on a work trip, you act like immature human beings... Bachelor. Boy talk. selfies. kissy faces till your face hurts. laughing. laughing a lot. Diet coke. Fries. Singing to the guy next to us at a red light. Target. Onesies. Jumping like bunnies. You know, Normal things....

I love this bestie of mine, college, life wouldnt be as F U N!

27 going on 18 ..... Keeping it classy and Young! Ha-ha!
